Black and White with the New DCWV Jet Black Stack

When I saw this NEW DCWV Jet Black stack I knew I would love having all the great black and white papers in my collection but first I had to do a page with photos of my Savvy! I had trouble deciding which papers to use so I picked a design that would let me use several. This year Savvy turned 9 and I took him out to the patio to take a few photos in better light. I found his adoption photo and added it to show then and now. :) Of course I had to add a little paw print flair from The Crafty Pickle.

And for a pop of color to go with my photos, I used a floral print from the DCWV Hello Darlin' stack and the super cute vellum bow from the DCWV DIY Mini Album stack.

And for a little sparkle I added a piece of the gold dot foiled vellum from the new 12x12 Premium Vellum with Foil stack.

August Sketchy Thursday at Scraptastic Club

It's time for another Sketchy Thursday Challenge. Create a layout based on this sketch for a chance at the monthly prize at Scraptastic Club Blog. This month's sketch will allow you to use one larger photo or several small photos. There's also space for extra space for embellishment. Visit the Blog to see all of the other creations by our design team.

For my example I used the "Wednesday Night" kit and Add on Kit. I decided to use 4 photos rather than 3.

I cut my title from the dotty denim fabric paper because I just love that fabric.

and another close up because the gold foil accents just are not showing up in my photos very well, but they are awesome.

Different looks with one kit *Scraptastic Club

I hope your summer has been wonderful and that you have lots of photo memories to scrap. This month's kits might be just perfect for those photos. Some months with a very themed kit, all of my layouts will have a similiar feel. Like a holiday kit or the Summertime Rolls kit, but other times you can really have layouts with a completely varied range just from one kit. I want to share two layouts that I created with the Wednesday Night kit, Add on kit, and the Elastic Heart Stamp Set.
For my first layout I went with lots of the pretty embellishments that were exactly what I needed for a photo of my sister at the flower market the day before her wedding. I chose the white pearl looking cardstock for my background and a layout design that would allow me to scatter some of the fun embellishments down the page.

The photo above just doesn't do these embellishments justice because they have wonderful gold foil accents on the chipboard and die cuts but they are tricky to photograph.

The Elastic Heart Stamp Set has these great phrases with dots out to the side so you can stamp them on papers and cut them out for banners just to have on hand for layouts, but I stamped and embossed them with gold embossing powder on vellum and they are much more fun. The chipboard heart was gold foil but I sanded it a little to soften the look.

For my second layout I went a totally different direction. Would you know this was the same kit? The sun burst paper in this kit just needed to make a little sunburst on my funny layout. Sometimes people ask why there aren't more photos of me on vacation and this is why. Luckily my good friend Nancy went on vacation with us and she is a pro with her camera so I do actually have alot of photos from my vacation this time, but I still had to include my husband's photography.

Can you stand the coolness of the title Thicker letters in this kit?! I just love them, but with my light background I was afraid they would disappear so I rubbed some teal ink over the surface and lightly wiped it off, so it has a slight aqua hue. Also stamping the phrases on this layout with aqua rather than the more formal gold on vellum, gives it a more playful look. For my background I used ivory carstock from my stash.

I used the little envelope that the flair comes inside, for a pocket of confetti that I made by punching scrap papers, so always keep those little envelopes :)

Scraptastic Club Subscriber Challenge August

This month I played along with the subscriber challenge!  This is where the Scraptastic Club subscribers issue a challenge to the designer team members.  This is a fun one because the subscribers get to see projects specifically that interest them and the designers get a creative push.

This month, the subscribers have challenged the designers to mix 2 main scrapbooks up to create a project.

I chose to mix the "Summertime Rolls" Main kit with the "Wednesday Night" Main kit along with the "Elastic Hearts" stamp set . The colors coordinate perfectly.  I hope you will go see what the rest of the design team created HERE.

I used my silhouette to cut out some palm trees and added the cute wooden buttons to the centers because they reminded me of coconuts.

You know I have to add a hidden - or not so hidden - mickey to my disney pages so I used a small punch and punched thru one of the label stickers. Before punching thru a sticker, attach a small scrap of tissue paper or computer paper where you plan to punch, or you can rub the back with baby powder. I mounted the sticker with foam tape.

Time to Shop

Well if you are not a Doctor Who fan, this page will not make a whole lot of sense. It's one of our family faves and we were so excited that they are carrying the merchandise in UK EPCOT. I love this Pink Paislee Pen Pals collection for Doctor Who because of the perfect patriotic colors, TARDIS blue, and hearts! (you have to be a geek to get this stuff, sorry ) Then I got this awesome set of Doctor Who flair from The Crafty Pickle!

I found an image on the TARDIS online and cut it out with my silhouette.

And because this flair is so awesome, heres another little close up. :) I painted in a few triangles and I like the look so I will look for papers that work like this again. This paper reminded me of EPCOT's Spaceship Earth a bit.

Have you seen the August Scraptastic Club kits? If not, CLICK HERE to see all of the kits, add on kits, digital print and cut files, and stamp sets for this month. There are alot to choose from and they are so pretty this month. Here's my first layout using the "Wednesday Night" kit, Add on kit, and Elastic Heart Stamp Set. I cut the palm trees from a scrap of paper from last month's Summertime Rolls kit.

When I saw the sun burst paper I knew I wanted to cut out rays but then I looked at the back of the paper and there was this awesome multi colored print that I just loved. I decided to use some of the rays reversed so I could have both sides. Since I only used about 2/3rds of this paper, I saved the other section for a 2nd layout with sun rays. I totally love the Elastic Heart Stamp Set and the Remember This stamp is my fave so you will probably be seeing it alot on my pages.

here is a peek at the stamp set.
