making it merry *Scraptastic Club Store

I want to talk about holiday layouts today. I know I take a million photos during the holidays and now I have even more photos with a holiday theme from a November Disney trip so I have been looking at all of these photos and although there are gorgeous holiday collections that work with many of the photos, there are those photos that just look better with other non holiday collections. This layout uses papers from "Fine and Dandy" by Echo Park Paper, with a background paper from the "Rise and Shine" collection by Amy Tangerine.

I love the honeycomb patterned paper and fun colors of this collection for Pooh and Crystal Palace Breakfast so I just added a Christmas block from a "Home For Christmas" collection by Pebbles and made holly leaves with one of these fantastic felt Bows by Bella Blvd.

Confetti and Color Chaos *Scraptastic Store

Today I have some inspiration to incorporate your titles into your design and hopefully also help you use up some of your alpha stash. We typically just add our title using one package of alphas for a nice uniform title, but mixing fonts and using larger or longer titles as a design element on your page can be really fun. I thought I would share a couple of pages using some of the newer collections from the Scraptastic store. For this first layout I used Maggie Holmes Open Book collection for a soft sleepy kitty look.

My main title is Stuffed Animal Paws and I used the Confetti Thickers chipboard alphas along with letters cut from the silver foil paper. This silver foil is a perfect weight to cut alphas with your die cutting machines. After cutting them out I sanded the surface to give them a brushed look, but they are still so nicely metallic.

At the top of the page I added the a few pre-title words with little letters next to the embellishments. Since this page is about my very grey kitty, I used some of the grey, black and white chipboard embellishments from Bella Blvd's Color Chaos collection.

My second layout was super fun to create using the bright and cheerful Bella Blvd Color Chaos collection. I added the Chickaniddy Jolly Good brads because they are on sale in the store and coordinate so perfectly with the Color Chaos collection.

I divided my title to add embellishment in two places on either side of my photos. The black letters are such fun sticker letters that I mounted with foam tape for dimension for the first word and stitched down for the second word. The wonderful thing about this collection is that there are so many elements such as papers, stickers, chipboard, bows, transparencies, and enamel shapes so you can really coordinate easily and the colors work so well with other collections too. I can see this being one of my faves for mixing and matching. Check out the whole Color Chaos collection HERE.

I thought it would be fun to cut the last word in the title from my background white cardstock allowing the splatter pattern to show thru.

and one last close up photo of the upper right corner just because these little stickers are too cute. A little black paint splatter and the whole thing looks like very organized chaos to go with my silly photos.

MOH Bouquet *Scraptastic May kit

I knew when I got this May Scraptastic Club Purple Rain kit, Add on kit and stamp set, that I would have to scrap a couple of photos from my sister's wedding. Her maid of honor wore plum and had purples in her bouquet. I wanted an overall wedding white page with pops of color so I used my Silhouette to duplicate the Purple Rain digi cut file so that it would be a smaller design but would go across the page. I love the look with just a couple of pieces of the patterned papers behind the opening.

I cut the title from the pearly bling cardstock and the little labels are also Purple Rain Print and Cut files.

Fun with the Purple Rain kits - Scraptastic Club

Today I have two layouts to share using the May Purple Rain kit, Add on Kit, Stamp set, Cut File, and Stencil, as well as the Janglin Stamp Set. Since watercolor is such a hot trend right now, I played with my watercolors for these two pages as well. I am not a painter in any way, but its fun to add a little bit of color when using a white or light background.
For my first layout I used only the Purple Rain Main Kit along with some of the stamps this month.

Love Little Things

First I splattered pink mist onto my background before adding my 3 photos. I stitched the vellum "LOVE" die cut to my page and added a stamp as part of the title, then I painted 3 strips of color with my watercolors.  Also because I cut out honeycomb shapes, I had the negative pieces of paper and I placed them onto my page and used the mesh looking stamp to stamp thru the opening with black ink, and then watercolored some of the stripes in the design. It's very easy and very fast to add this accent. Just make sure to use permanent archival ink if you are planning to use watercolor or it may bleed.

My second layout begins with a white cardstock background. I used the hummingbird stencil from the Purple Rain kit, along with white paint mixed with heavy gel texture medium to add three hummingbirds to the background. They looked cute like that but while I had my watercolors out, I painted across the page and it highlighted the birds even more.

And here is a close up so you can see how I layered the texture medium with the stencil, watercolor, mist splatters, and stamping, allowing for drying between each step. Of course the little acrylic bird needed to be added as well, since he is the cutest.

Happy Holidays??? *Scraptastic Club Store Sale

Happy Holidays!  Well, the holidays are long past, but if you are like me, you have plenty of photos that haven't been put into albums. I went on vacation in November and have Disney holiday photos stacked high as well. This is a good thing, because guess what? That gorgeous holiday paper that you didn't buy before Christmas is now on sale at pretty amazing prices in the Scraptastic Store! And that's not all, there are many items on sale in the Frugal Friday section of the store HERE. Today I am going to share a holiday layout using just one of these holiday collections, the Authentique Believe collection along with some gold accents from vellum, a photo overlay, and a chipboard alpha.

Supplies:
Authentique - Believe - Collection kit, Authentique - Believe - Essence Paper, Authentique - Believe - Universal Paper, Authentique - Believe - Tidings Paper, Authentique - Believe - Cardstock Stickers, Chickaniddy - Goldie Lox Gold Foil Paper, Pebbles - Cottage Living - Imprint White & Gold Thickers, Bella Blvd - Color Chaos - Chipboard Hearts and Stars, Maggie Holmes - Open Book - Overlays, Bella Blvd - Color Chaos - Bella Bows McIntosh, Websters Pages - #Happy - Gold Stars Foiled Vellum
I wanted a very festive title so I cut "Merriest" from gold foil paper by Chickaniddy. Its a nice thick weight that cuts out perfectly. I combined that with my current fave Imprint White &Gold Thickers. Then I thought the Bella chipboard heart would look perfect layered under the title. The decorative title just pulled the page together for me.

Because it's a holiday page, it needs a bow and don't you just love the new Bella Bows! The red bow is a perfect Christmas red. I layered it over one of the Maggie Holmes photo overlays, I know they are meant to go over photos but I usually end up using them like I would a die cut. I just love the gold. I also layered a blue cardstock sticker from this Believe collection.
