Confetti and Craft Market from Scraptastic Store

Today I have 2 layouts using the new Crate Paper Craft Market and Confetti collections from Scraptastic Club Store. These papers all work so well together along with the Craft Market Ephemera pack. The gold foiled and glittered accents in this die cut pack, really give it that extra something special to finish off your layouts. For my first layout, which is about antiquing, I wanted that market style so I cut blocks of patterned papers and the gorgeous printed burlap and attached them across the top of my layout with a bit of stitching.

***Also a quick shopping note - Scraptastic Club Store has a Frugal Fridays section of the store HERE that is packed with amazing sale products. Seriously check them out here because I just placed a big order and couldn't believe what a deal it was. I only just realized that there was a sale section. LOL

Supplies: Maggie Holmes - Confetti - Festival Paper, Maggie Holmes - Confetti - Music Background Embossing Folder, Crate Paper - Craft Market - Stitching Paper, Crate Paper - Craft Market - Hand Painter Paper, Crate Paper - Craft Market - Burlap with White Polka Dots Paper, Crate Paper - Craft Market - Ephemera with Gold Accents, Pebbles - Cottage Living - Imprint White and Gold Thickers, Elle's Studio - Letters and Numbers Dark Grey, Freckled Fawn - Paper Clips - Classic Star Clips, Freckled Fawn Paper Clips - Light Blue Long Arrows, My Mind's Eye - On Trend - Party Enamel Shapes, My Mind's Eye - Fancy That - Kiss Enamel Shapes,

I used the  Maggie  Holmes music note embossing folder with clear vellum and layered it under my photos for a little extra dimension. This embossing folder has a nice texture and design that will work with just about any page.

The "sold" and "hold" tags just needed a bit of string from my stash and I crumpled them a bit and tore the bottom of one.

My second layout is a photo of my mom and her huge oak. I over-sized the photo because the tree is the main part and mom is so much smaller. The scale makes it look more grand and it is set off nicely against the woodgrain background paper. Since I took the photo on Easter, I just had to use the adorable squirrel and bunny die cuts.

For my title I combined some of the gold foil lined Thickers alphas with a script title that I cut from a scrap of vellum left over from embossing on the first layout. The flower motif is a piece that I hand cut from the center of the floral paper that I layered under the photo.

I used some embroidery floss from my stash as a bow on the tag and then hand stitched to hold the vellum title in place.

Getting Organized

Have you joined the organizer/planner album trend? Well I am the least organized person really and although I love the little cute daily planners, my life doesn't really work with those. I use a google calendar with notifications because I need to have a sound to actually alert me. LOL! That being said, there are lots of other things that you can keep in these smaller albums to help organize your scrappy world, so I thought I would share what I put together to help me not be such a mess.

Here are the kinds of things I am planning to include: I need a place to draw my sketches. I always hand draw them before turning them into a digi image for Sketch Savvy. I also have lots of ideas for pages or page titles that end up on little scraps of paper all over my desk and around my keyboard so I need a section for those types of ideas. Right now I am working on ideas for National Scrapbook Day at my Disney Scrappers site so that needs a spot. And of course all my little notes from my last big trip to Disney and notes for next time. I will probably include a few photos so it will be cuter. You get the idea. I am sure there will be more sections as I go along. Since there is alot of Disney going on, that's my theme. After shopping at Scraptastic Store, I pulled together some cute things and compiled a list of main supplies with links for you below.

Here is my cover. I chose this great 6 x 8" Teal Burlap Binder.

It has basic pages for writing, pocket pages for notes and photos, and a large kraft envelope with a closure. I had some clear dividers from one of my older albums that I punched the proper holes in and I am using it for the tabs. Here is a peek inside. I only just started this but it seems to be working out well.

Next is a photo of some of the things that I think I will be using, followed by a list of supplies with links.

April Sketchy Thursday at Scraptastic Club

Hey, its time for another Sketchy Thursday challenge at Scraptastic Club Blog. Play along for a chance at the monthly prize. Here's the sketch - Sketch #140 at Sketch Savvy:

And for my example I have used the April Darlene kit,  Add on kit, and Sentiment Series v.7 stamp set . I saw the little globe chipboard and had to do a page about my new globe collection :)

The wood veneers are exclusive to Scraptastic, aren't they cool!

I used the Sentiment Series v.7 stamp set for the word "awesome" and I stamped using a sheer gold tinsel embossing powder. I printed the journaling on vellum.

The Suitcase *Scraptastic Club April kit

Here is another layout using the beautiful April "Darlene" kit  and Add on kit.from Scraptastic Club. I was inspired immediately by the little suitcase chipboard because we are always on the hunt for a certain sized vintage leather suitcase for my uncle to use for car shows with his vintage car. We finally found one recently and I took photos of the cool suitcases too. The papers in this collection are light with gold accents and really let the photos pop.

For an extra homey feel I created sort of a quilt block effect with triangles cut from the smaller scraps of paper. I love doing this when I get to the end of my kits.

Journey - Scraptastic Store

Today on the Scraptastic Store Blog I have a couple of layouts using the new travel collection "Journey" by Crate Paper. This collection has the natural colors you need in a travel collection along with some nice rose, gold, and teal colors. The collection is a versatile travel collection with a southwest feel that is absolutely ideal for a few photos I took at the Tee Pee Motel on a day trip recently. I just love this woodgrain background for not overwhelming my photos too.

Cutting fringe from one of the patterned papers is a fun way to add dimension without bulk on a page, but most appropriate for this theme. I cut a triangle from the Tribal Patterned Paper, added a slit up the center and curled the paper outward to create a tee pee. The feathers, map, and list card are all cut from the patterned papers as well.

Although these pages were created separately, they function as a two page layout for my book. This second layout coordinates by using the same patterned papers and fringe cut paper. Also, I like to buy at least a couple of each of the papers in any collection that work as backgrounds since I know I will need a nice neutral background, but also because the back of the paper is always something I wish I could use as well. This lightly distressed grid is also great because when lining up pieces for a linear block style layout, you know it will be straight.

I cut the "Bigger in Texas" title from patterned papers, cross stitched on the first letter, and used the state shape for "Texas". The cute little tee pees are cut from the patterned paper that is shown behind the photo.

I cross stitched down the side of the dream catcher block and added enamel dots.

Perfection *April Scraptastic Club Kit

Do you love the new April Scraptastic Club Kits?! If you haven't seen all of them and the stamps, check them out HERE. I am using the Darlene kit, Add on Kit, Digital Print and Cut files, and Stamp Set for this layout. Noel does believe that she should be worshiped so this is definitely Noel captured.

I just have to point out the awesomeness of this aqua clear acrylic arrow that is one of the Scraptastic kit exclusives - so cute!

I used the kit cut files to cut a couple of large feathers from clear vellum and I love the effect. The title is stamped using the perfect alphabet "Darlene" Stamp Set HERE.

Here is a look at the whole stamp set.

Hello Easter Bunny *Scraptastic Club April kit

I don't normally feel the need to have my photo taken with the Easter Bunny, but while Nancy was visiting we went to our grocery store and right in the front was the bunny. Of course we had to have a photo :)

I used the pretty Scraptastic Club April kit "Darlene", along with the Add on Kit, I Lived Stamp Set, and the Sentiment Series V.6 Stamp Set with the cute bunny in it. This kit has some soft colors as well as accents of gold and black that help to make the page just pop. It's a great contrast.

I used a piece of watercolor paper from my stash for the background piece because I wanted to add some mint watercolor, drips of gold mist, and splatters of pink and teal without too much page warping. I stamped on the background with black ink and also added some gold rub on pieces.

The wood veneers this month are just incredible but when you paint them and they get wet, they do curl so you have to place an acrylic block or something on them while they dry. Even then they curl a bit so I stitched mine down. The bunny is stamped and embossed with gold tinsel embossing powder on vellum.

Mixed Title Challenge

Sorry to post this so late. Last Thursday Meghann Andrew and I hosted a challenge on the Scraptastic Club Blog. You still have until tomorrow night at midnight to play along, so Check it out HERE!  The kits are so full of fun elements and word products such as die cuts, word stickers, exclusive wood veneers and acrylics, cut aparts, printables, and of course alphas. Putting them together adds interest to your title and turns it into a design element of your page, so we would like to see what you can come up for your titles. This weeks challenge is to use 3 or more elements to create a title.

For my example layout I used mostly the February Counting Stars kit and add on since I had so many goodies left. For my title I used a Scraptastic Club kit wood veneer "all of us", a few die cuts, and a word sticker "happy day".

all of us 600

I added a glossy finish to my woodgrain and some clear glitter just for fun and although it does have the finish I wanted, it curled up badly from the wet gloss so I hand stitched it to my page and I really like the way it turned out. I added the small vellum heart with an adhesive foam square for dimension.

all of us 1

To allow the page to flow a bit better I did a similar combination of elements in the upper left with a vellum die cut "Remember this" and little wood veneer pieces from Freckled Fawn in the Scraptastic Club Store.

Scraptastic Store: Mix it up

Today I am sharing a layout on the Scraptastic Club Store Blog using pieces from a few collections that coordinate very well together. When I was shopping in the Scraptastic Store this month, I picked papers and embellishments that I loved from different collections and manufacturers. Then the box arrived and I noticed right away that several of these lines are using the same range of colors with gold accents. This page uses products from the My Mind's Eye "On Trend" collection, the Jillibean Soup "Summer Red Raspberry Soup" collection, and the Crate Paper "Confetti" and "Craft Market collections. After finishing the page, it even appears that they are all from one coordinated collection.

Supplies: Crate Paper - Confetti - Gala Paper, Jillibean Soup - Summer Red Raspberry Soup - Fresh Yogurt Paper, Jillibean Soup - Summer Red Raspberry Soup - Frozen Red Raspberries, Crate Paper - Confetti - Gold Star Vellum, My Mind's Eye - On Trend - Happy Paper, My Mind's Eye - On Trend - Chipboard Buttons, My Mind's Eye - On Trend - Sequins, Crate Paper - Craft Market - Ephemera Pack, American Crafts - Imprint Thickers, My Mind's Eye - On Trend - Enamel Shapes.

The background paper (Crate Paper - Confetti - Gala Paper) has nice large white dots so I straight stitched around a few of them using Kreinik metallic threads from my stash.

If you haven't used the Kreinik threads they come on these little spools in hundreds of colors and so many cool metallics.

The gold accents of the papers, vellum, and embellishments help to tie all of the different collections together. I am more likely to use up my stash when I can easily coordinate like this. The flowers are cut from one of the Jillibean Soup floral papers.

Out of this world

I was working on a color challenge using disney photos and I found this photo that I just love so I drew a scribble design on paper and created a cut file. I used my silhouette to cut it out and added lots of little embellishments. Its just a fun way to bits and pieces for a playful look to your layout. I will share the cut file image below if anyone would like to use it.
